The Congress will begin in:

It’s the timeless way of greeting people from dawn to dusk! Meaning “may you have a long life” by gesturing both palms together and that’s how we greet everyone in Sri Lanka! the land like no other.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Sir Lanka Inc. (CIPM), the premier People Management Institute of South Asia, in collaboration with the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA), supported by the Asia Pacific Federation of HR (APFHRM) is privileged to present you the world’s premier people event, the 18th World HR Congress (WHRC) from December 6th to 8th, 2021. This was originally planned for last Oct as a fully physical event but due to the continuous and devastating effects of the pandemic, we are compelled to move on to a virtual platform. We have aptly selected the theme: “Exalting People Professionals amidst a planetary pandemic: Explore, Expand and Excel” for the 18th World Congress.

This biennial Conclave has been held since 1986 in seventeen different countries and the venue for the 18th congress of the world is the beautiful paradise island nation Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean. The WHRC converges people professionals from five continental federations consist of 93 countries virtually this time and it will enable people professionals to build a global community of peers, to discuss new developments, and to network with colleagues from around the world who face similar complex challenges in the people profession. This is the first occasion the WHRC will be hosted and staged by a country from South Asia, the most humanly rich region of the world.

World HR Congress will be staged at a very crucial juncture of mankind while we are dealing with many complexities on top of this pandemic juggling with people, planet and profits, while new industrial era is already dawned and we are on the brink of the next big thing, the 5th industrial revolution. where the human and machine will dance together as technology will help humans to vastly increase labour productivity and to align return on investment with purpose but it will require intentionality and moral clarity. However, now that we are grappled with the corona pandemic, we shall overcome by getting used to the next normal where the world of work is challenged the most by it.

On the other hand, there is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs provide history’s first universal matrix for achieving a flourishing future. Adopted by the heads of governments from 193 UN member states, the SDG framework addresses the key physical facets of the life of all beings in our global village – social, environmental and economic.

Against this backdrop, we have endeavoured to line up an enhanced and enriched experience for you with an exciting flavour of the global, regional and local blend. Do keep December 6,7 & 8, 2021 reserved for this engaging and energizing virtual experience while in the comfort of your own home or office, zipping a refreshingly authentic cup of pure (Sri Lankan) Ceylon Tea. We will assure you novel insights and futures to the arena of people management and how it will lead the post-pandemic world of work.

We look forward to meeting you all in our life-like virtual space as we host this mega conclave from Colombo this coming December 2021!
